2010....so hard to say goodbye!

Friday, December 31, 2010

Wow 2010 is over already? It's been a wonderful, crazy, loving, wild ride and I loved every moment! 2011 means so many things for us. This month my amazing stepdaughter turns 16, my best friend's husband finally comes home from Iraq, in Feb my beautiful flower girl turns 3, and don't forget Valentine's Day, in March I'll turn 28, and my sister will be 30....and in April we'll celebrate our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY!!! So that's why 2010 is so hard to say goodbye to, it was our wedding year, it was OUR YEAR!! I also became a full time wedding blogger this year, moved, quit my job where I worked for 5 years, but best of all we made a family when we got married with my wonderful stepdaughters and stepson. My stepdaughters moved in with us and we became one big happy family!!

HAPPY 2011 Everyone!!

Thank you for being wonderful friends, giving advice, sharing your personal life, following mine, and being a great support!!

New Year's Eve....

Wednesday, December 29, 2010

Not yet...but in a few days! I'm trying to start my resolution now so hopefully it will stick! I just want to get more in shape and stay in shape and be more healthy. You can't just lose weight and think that it will stay away, you have to work at it every day and work out more often than not! For me it's not really about losing weight, but more about being in shape and feeling good about myself. Before our wedding I was more in shape and felt great shopping for clothes and taking pictures! So I want to get back to that woman and stay there! So far I worked out twice this week and it feels great!

So any New Year's Eve Parties or Weddings to celebrate? I like staying home together, watching the ball drop on TV from the comfort of our warm home! Together with the kids...<3

Love this idea for a New Year's Eve Wedding...

...but I found out they are no longer available! Please bring them back, I love them! What are your ideas for a New Year's Eve Wedding or party? Do you have a theme? I love metallic colors, noisemakers, and fireworks or sparklers!

A Day for Dogs...

Monday, December 20, 2010

I love dogs, don't you?! Sadly I am allergic to animal dander and can't get too close to dogs or cats. But sometimes I just can't resist their puppy dog eyes, or their cute kitten noses. My favorite dog is a beagle. Growing up I would walk to school and every day there was a little beagle sitting on a fenced in deck and every day I would pet him! Most of the time I just washed my hands when I got to school, but one day I forgot and must have touched my face, the teacher thought I had pink eye...nope just cute puppy syndrome! What's your favorite dog, or are you a cat person? I adore both! Did your favorite pup walk down the aisle with you?

Are you still thinking about having your dog in your wedding or attend as a guests...but aren't sure yet if you will, then check out Wedding.AllWomenStalk.com for my post 5 Reasons to have your Dog in Your Wedding!

Here is one reason....they are just so darn cute!

Crazy weekend...glad it's over!

Sunday, December 19, 2010

Usually it's the week we can't wait to end and get to the wonderful weekend. But there were so many crazy things that happened this weekend and I'm just happy to say for right now the weekend and craziness is over...until next time! It's just been one of those weekends where you want to get back in bed so you can get up and start it all over again.

Though it was a great time with my husband and kids celebrating my stepdaughter's birthday! We took her out to the store to pick out a new bike! She thought she had to wait for Christmas...but Santa came a week early! She was so happy and loves her new bike. We just wish Spring would get here so we can ride more! Do you have any birthdays near the holidays? Sometimes it can make for a crazier holiday with birthdays right before and after! My stepson's birthday was last weekend and next month my other stepdaughter has her big sweet 16!!

Well I hope it was a great weekend for you and hope that you all have a wonderful Christmas coming up...wow it's almost here!

To cheer me up I will be posting about cute little dogs in weddings so look for that next....but for now head over to Wedding.Allwomenstalk.com for ideas on flower girl dresses and see how Adorable all these flower girls are in their Pretty Dresses! I love the little girls in tutus!! My flower girl is the sweetest little girl and I was so happy she was part of the wedding with her mom who was my MOH! She wore an adorable cream colored dress that had a beautiful sash around the waist. She looked like a little angel! What did your flower girl wear?

My heart is melting....

Etsy Love...

Thursday, December 16, 2010

There are so many things on Etsy that I would have loved to buy for our wedding but I really didn't know too much about the site yet. Plus most of the accessories I did buy were purchased last minute! What wedding items did you find on Etsy, have any favorite sites? I think we can find every wedding item you would ever need on there! I love the wedding dresses from AmyJo; sweet, delicate, vintage...what's not to love! I love the quality of the handmade items. They are wonderful for the bride and groom who are looking for a DIY handmade wedding but just don't have the time to put into it.

What wedding items are you still looking to accessorize yourself or your wedding with? Check out these beautiful handmade items I found on there over at Wedding.AllWomenStalk.com

This is one of the bridal dresses I love on AmyJo's Etsy shop!

How cool are these for the music loving couple!

Having a winter/Christmas wedding? These would be beautiful for your bridesmaids or flower girl to carry!

Where do/did you go to buy your favorite wedding items?

Cozy Winter Weddings...

Monday, December 13, 2010

I love cozy winter weddings, brides in the snow, snowflake cookies, hot coco favors, and bridesmaids in cute boots and shawls! These are a few of my favorite things! There are so many wedding blogs with wonder winter inspiration like Jacin over @ SheSaidYes who had a post the other day with beautiful cozy winter lighting ideas , she actually has a whole series on winter wedding inspiration, winter brides head on over!

The Favour Shoppe also has a few ideas for winter wedding inspiration, I love this board she created...love the couple kissing in the snow!  There is just something so magical about this season!

@ AllWomenStalk Wedding we have 5 Cozy Real Winter Weddings that will heat up your fire and get you inspired! I love couples who plan winter weddings around their winter hobbies, check out the last couple in the AllWomenStalk post posing on skis!

Love this winter bride and her bridesmaids...how beautiful are their fur shawls...

Pinecones are always seen around the fall and winter so what better accent to bring into your winter wedding decor...

Love the branches in the centerpiece and the brown and aqua colors, very beautiful and woodsy winter wedding feel...

Are you or did you plan a winter wedding, what inspired you?

Pretty Bridesmaid Dresses...

Thursday, December 9, 2010

I love finding new styles of Bridesmaid dresses just as much as finding new styles of Bridal Gowns. There are so many BM dresses with cute patterns now. I've seen floral prints, circles, two tone, fading tones....fun, fun, fun! OH...and BM dresses with POCKETS!! Are you or did you take a risk outside the traditional bridesmaid dresses, how did it turn out? I got lucky with my girls, they all loved the same dress! We went together and they tried on several styles but kept to the same tea length because that was the look I wanted for our Spring wedding. I really loved the flow of the dress and was happy that they each liked the same dress and felt comfortable as well as beautiful! It didn't matter to me if they found different styles and I thought they might because they are different ages, sizes, and shape and I just wanted them to have a dress they each liked best that flattered them well. Let your girls stay true to who they are and feel comfortable in their own body. Maybe you can pick the color but let them choose the style.

Check out these 5 Hot Dresses for Every Spring 2011 Bridesmaid! Will your bridesmaids be wearing one of these?

(POCKETS!)

Wonderful Wednesday....

Wednesday, December 8, 2010

Wow it's already the middle of the week? What a wonderful Wednesday it was. I got to hang out all day with my stepdaughter who had the day off from school. We went shopping and saw the latest Harry Potter movie...oh and we had pizza!! Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter) was a bit darker than the rest of the series, as to be expected I'm sure. But overall it was a pretty good movie. Though my stepdaughter said the book was 10 times better. I told her books usually are!

So now back to Bridal business! I saw a few metallic accessories online and thought what a great theme for winter or New Year's Eve weddings! How does that holiday song go, "Silver and Gold"...something, something! Anyone?! So do you have any metallic accessories that you are wearing or did wear for your wedding? I think the only thing I wore that was metallic was my engagement ring and after the ceremony my wedding band! It has the look of silver but is actually white gold! I love the shine of metallic but I mostly wear silver or white gold jewelry and accessories...just never got into wearing gold. Which do you prefer, or do you wear both?

If you're still looking for that hot metallic piece to complete your bridal ensemble check out these 5 lovely bridal accessories and maybe you'll wear more than one or surprise your bridesmaids with a special gift! Did you give the wonderful gift of jewelry to your bridesmaids? I'm sure they loved it!

MMM...Wedding Cake too Pretty to Eat!

Tuesday, December 7, 2010

We're you afraid to cut into your wedding cake because it was too pretty to eat?! I loved our sea shell themed cake, it was everything we wanted for our wedding cake. Some cakes are so amazing they look like works of art. The technique is brilliant in details like sugar flowers, lace like icing, and hand-painted flowers or animals. There is so much more than buttercream and fondant for wedding cakes.

Check out these 6 Amazing Wedding Cakes that are Just Too Pretty to Eat! and share your wedding cake details with us!

I love the combination of cake and cupcakes in this lovely beach theme cake from Carolina Cake Confections...it reminds me of our wedding cake! <3

Monday Mania!

Monday, December 6, 2010

This Monday's post is for all my bridal friends who are still searching for the perfect gown. Sometimes it's difficult to know what the gown will actually look like when we only see a photo on a size two model. If you are proud of your curves, which we should all be, want to hide what you don't like, or would like to create some curves, there is a gown out there for you!

Every bride should have that "This is the One" moment! Don't let anyone tell you the one you love isn't the right one for you. If you love it then he will love it too! Did you have any problems with gowns you thought could be one before actually trying them on?

There were plenty of dresses I loved in the bridal magazines, especially a beautiful gown I thought was really the one I would say yes to. However, when I tried it on I was disappointed by the shape it was given me so it was time to move on to find "The One".

I love this flowing A-line Allure gown, perfect for many brides who are looking for a flattering silhouette that doesn't hug the body.

Lazy Sunday Afternoon...

Sunday, December 5, 2010

I've seen so many grooms on blogs pitching in and helping out with wedding planning...and we love them all for it! But sometimes there are grooms that aren't so crafty and just don't know what to do, or they think the bride and her girls are going to do all of the planning!! What about your groom, did he help you plan or make DIY details? My husband was there for every venue meeting and taste testing and gave me his opinion when I showed him ideas for our centerpieces and cake. We didn't have many DIY items but for our awesome card box my husband helped me hot glue it and put it together. Some things, like the horrible print at home invitations, I did myself and wished I had a little more help, but I am grateful for everything he did help me with and that he was involved in most of it.

A Fairytale Wedding....

Saturday, December 4, 2010

You love weddings right, well don't tell me that you haven't heard about Prince William's engagement to his beautiful girlfriend Kate Middleton! Yes, she is beautiful even if we're all jealous that the Prince is getting married to someone other than us! Did you dream of marrying him when you were younger, did you ever have a crush on him?! I think I just wanted to be Princess Diana's daughter-in-law...how cute would that be to have a daughter-in-law with the same first name! HAHA! I think she is smiling in heaven and is very proud of her son and soon to be daughter-in-law.

Now that everyone knows there is a soon to be Fairytale Royal wedding, every designer wants to be the one to create Kate's stunning, one of a kind wedding gown.

I have my favorite already...continue reading @ 7 Designer Bridal Gown Sketches for Kate Middleton to pick your favorite...and Kate's!

(Congrats!)

Think...Think...Think!

Thursday, December 2, 2010

Sometimes we get stuck for ideas for our wedding and wonder where to find inspiration. We want ideas that haven't been thought of or something new but that still speaks of who we are. Where did you find inspiration for your wedding? I thought of things we like, i.e. I love butterflies and he loves football! So I put butterflies in our centerpieces and had a Steelers groom's cake made for him! We all look on blogs and in bridal magazines and sometimes we still don't see what we like.

In the meantime...here is a beautiful inspiring photo for an outdoor wedding for brides and grooms looking for a rustic but classy theme.

So EXCITED!!

Tuesday, November 30, 2010

So many exciting things are happening! One that I am so excited about that I found out just now is that my best friend finally has a blog!! Check out her cute scrap blog @ Scrappily Ever After!

Another one is that I am now a full time writer/stay at home Stepmom. I am so excited to be home with my girls and be there for them when they come home from school to cook dinner and spend time with them. Tonight I cooked sweet and sour pork chops, and they came out great! I've only cooked a few times so this was a proud moment for me! <3

I am a full time writer with the blog I write for, AllWomenStalk, they are starting their own wedding blog! Right now they mostly have a Q&A section on there, but I posted a story today about Unique Bouquets that will Last Forever!

PS...did anyone watch Christmas at Rockefeller? I think Mariah Carey and Josh Groban were the only two that performed well. What happened to everyone else?! At least the tree turned out beautifully!

Are you on Facebook or Twitter?

Thursday, November 18, 2010

I haven't started a twitter yet but I have started a facebook and would love to connect with other ladies and brides. Do you have a facebook for your blog or a personal one and would you like to connect? I love blogging and I think it would be great to reach out on facebook and twitter (once I start!) What are you thoughts on both fb and twitter? Do you feel that you have more readers and more blogs to read once you connect on either social network?

Sorry still trying to figure this out...my facebook will be back soon!

Dreaming of Winter Weddings Yet?

Wednesday, November 3, 2010

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and the air is already crisp...so instead of thinking of all the winter holidays I'm dreaming of all the wonderful winter weddings! What trends do you see for this winter's weddings, what colors and gowns would you like to see? Last year I saw some purple winter weddings but not too many, I would love to see more of them this year! What do you think?

Halloween Costumes...

Tuesday, November 2, 2010

OK so I dressed up as a Steelers Football player for all the trick o' treaters coming to the door and what do the Steelers do to me...they lost! But it was still fun putting the black lines under my eyes and answering the door to all the adorable kids! I was so excited when the first group of kids rang the door bell! The little girl had to be about three or four years old and when I gave her a tootsie roll she said, "Oh I'm allergic." Ok HOW CUTE ARE YOU!! So I gave her a box of dots and she was happy! Ok it's not cute to be allergic to chocolate...I would hate that...but it was just so cute that she was three telling me this because she was being so responsible! AWW!! I love you little girl dressed as spiderman! PS Here is a photo of me dressed up and a photo of what my stepdaughters wore (we don't post their pics). Cant wait to see your costumes!

PS...I voted today, aren't you happy that all the nasty advertisements are over?!

Excuse the face I was trying to be a tough football player!

(My daughters had tights on with theirs!)

The Great Pumpkin....

Thursday, October 28, 2010

Happy Halloween!!

Have you carved pumpkins yet? We can't wait to give out candy to the trick o' treaters and see our girls in their cute Halloween customes! My one stepdaughter is going to be a bumble bee and the other will be a love bug (looks like a lady bug). They are really cute customes for teens. Are you dressing up?

I know Christina @ At least we have each other is going to love our Steelers Pumpkins!!

It's the weekend and it's been 6 months already!

Thursday, October 21, 2010

What are your plans for this weekend? Guess what we're celebrating...6 months!!! Wow...that means it will only be 6 more months until we celebrate 1 year! I love you my husband!

                                                                  (Pictures in a Snap)

We're at six months since getting married at Glen Foerd Historical Mansion and Sara @ First Comes Love, Then Comes Marriage is getting married this weekend at Glen Foerd!! CONGRATS!! ♥

Tag...I'm it and so are YOU!

Saturday, October 16, 2010

I love being tagged...it makes me feel like I have friends! LOL!

So I haven't been on much because we're still in the middle of moving, unpacking, setting things up, but Im glad I popped on today because I might have missed the chance to play the Blog-Tag game that one of my fav bloggers Nan nominated me for! Check out her New York, fun loving, sports fan, post wedding blog @ Dancy Days because she's awesome and makes us all feel like we're friends! So here is the game....are you ready to be tagged?!

1. What was the first CD/tape/Album you ever bought with your own money?

Ok so these questions require some memory, which I never seem to have! I know we loved New Kids on the Block...had the big buttons, posters, CDs, and my dad bought Pay-per-view so we could watch their tour on TV! My fav was always Jordan, though I have to say his brother Jon is probably the cutest member these days! My sister had a crush on Joey...I think most girls did! But I don't know if that was the first CD I bought with my own money, it could have also been Mariah Carey...who was classier and not so crazy in the late 80s, early 90s...omg that makes me sound young! I always loved her voice and continue to love pop artist with real vocals like Christina Aguilera (sad about her divorce) and Alicia Keys (congrats on baby boy!).

                                                                         (source)

2. What is your favorite piece of jewelry and why (wedding/e-rings don't count)?

I love wearing my sterling silver necklace and changing the charm that I wear with it. I have so many; a heart charm that my husband gave me when we were first dating, a four leaf clover that I bought in college because I used to be obsessed with the Good Luck Care Bear (I have stickers, a magnet, keychain, and an actually plush Care Bear (don't ask!), a 2005 charm from when I graduated college, a best friend charm from my MOH that says "Love, Loyalty and Friendship", and an aquamarine charm for my birth month (March)...I have other charms just can't remember right now! I have a few different sterling silver necklaces and one I have from my mom that I used to wear all the time...well in high school I was walking to the mall with my friend and I lost the necklace when I took my hoodie off. I was freaking out when I realized it was missing and looked all over but couldn't find it...when we walked home from the mall a few hours later, guess what I found on the ground! Can you believe it was still there?! And can you believe this Care Bear plush is going for $69.98?!

                                                                        (source)

3. What's your favorite holiday & why?

I've always loved New Years Eve, you still have the wonder of Christmas with all the lights and decorations but you don't have all the hassle of shopping and worrying about what to buy everyone. Oh...and fireworks...wish I could have had fireworks at our wedding...that would have been cool! I would put Christmas because I love getting together with the family, watching the holiday specials on TV, and singing Christmas songs like Alvin and the Chipmunks, "Christmas Don't Be Late"...but I think it's horrible and tragic the way everyone rushes into the stores on Black Friday...lately I've heard of people getting seriously hurt and dying because they get trampled on. New Years Eve is fun, exciting, and always nice when you have your love to kiss at midnight! This New Years Eve will be our first as a married couple! YAY! And who doesn't love New Years Eve in Philly where you get to bang pots and pans!

From Dancy: "The next few I'm gonna steal from James Lipton. I always thought they were cool Q's."

4. What sound or noise do you love?

This is an interesting question. I'd have to say I love the sound of children playing and a child's laughter. It just makes me smile and makes me happy. It also takes me back to when things were simple and you didn't worry about anything...well maybe you worried about whether or not your best friend was going to let you play with her pretty Barbie because you had cut all the hair off of yours! But you didn't worry about boys just yet, or how much your wedding dress was going to cost, you just laughed and had fun because that's what kids should do.

                                                                        (Adorable kids!)

5. What's your favorite curse word?

This is funny! I def curse way too often but I'm trying to cut back! I use the word Bitch a lot...esp when driving! If you drive too slow, cut me off, get in my way...watch out because I'll call you names...in the comfort of my car with the windows up that is! I remember in high school I used to call my best friend a Bitch just for fun! "Hey Bitch what are we doing today?" LOL for some reason I hear Paris Hilton in my head right now saying, "Bitches" in her annoying little girl voice! I saw a bumper sticker the other day that said, "Yea I'm That Bitch"...but she didn't drive too well! If you are That Bitch I want to see you take control and drive like you mean it! Ok...that sounds wrong?! Did you know there is a magazine called Bitch?

6. What profession other than yours would you like to attempt? I would LOVE to become a fulltime writer...esp about weddings and the couples who are planning those weddings.  I would love for readers to get advice on marriage and why people take the big leap...lets get behind the couple, the marriage, and look further than just the wedding day. I know it's really the thing to do right now and that many brides find inspiration from their own weddings to become fulltime wedding bloggers, but I've always had a passion for writing. I love blogging on here and for AllWomenStalk and would really love to push my career in that genre.

7. What profession would you not like to do?

Hmm...Sales?! If I had to I would...you know to pay the bills! But trying to get someone to buy your product just seems like an annoying job. I was actually just talking to a coworker about his wife who was getting yelled at by her boss because she wasn't getting enough customers to open other accounts at their bank. So because people just want to come in to cash their checks instead of opening a savings account, get a loan, etc. it's her fault? People don't want to be bothered and they don't want to buy your product if you push it on them. They want to get from point A to point B in little time as possible and not be hassled by you to buy your hand lotion, cell phone contract, AS SEEN ON TV crap, or anything else they don't need! Don't you just love those people in the mall! It's not just the Sales people at the mall either, big corps have to have a Sales team as well, and even Realtors are in Sales...they want you to buy their home right?! I would just feel like I was always bothering someone...it's a cruel world out there!

8. If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?

"Here is your family....they've been waiting for you."

I don't care to hear about what I've done right in life or what I've done wrong, I just want to see my family in the afterlife and know that we will always be together. I would love to meet family members who died before I had the chance to meet them like my mom's parents and my husbands grandmother. I would also really love to see the loved ones who I have lost and who I miss with all my heart. I want to know that I will see my Aunt Ruth and my grandparents again and that my cousins are finally together again and hanging out like brothers should. I also hope that my friend Danielle isn't suffering any more and that in heaven she is cancer free. GOD BLESS THEM ALL. ♥

OK now that I'm done crying here is who I want to tag!! Thanks for the questions NAN! ♥

Miss Glasses @ Kristin In America
Heather @ Bicoastal Bride
Nell @ On the First Day of Marriage
Lovely Lady @ The Favour Shoppe
Sara @ First Comes Love who is getting married this weekend! CONGRATS!
Christina @ At Least We Have Each Other...GO STEELERS!!
Another lovely lady @ Poppies and Sunshine
My fav Fashion Girl @ Cafe Fashionista
Mrs. Hamster @ Wheresmydessert?

Ok I would seriously tag everyone I know...so if you want to play then just play along and copy these questions and tell us about it!

Here are the questions:

1. When did you know your love was "The One"? If you're not married, do you think you will know when they are "The One"?
2. When you were younger did you have a set age you wanted to be married by?
3. Do you like the same sports team as your love, if not do you fight about whose team is better?
4. What is something weird about you that you don't share with many people?
5. What is one thing in your life that you wish you could do over?
6. Who is your favorite actor and the best movie they were in?
7. Do you get along with all of your family members?
8. What was your favorite cartoon when you were younger, do you have a favorite cartoon now?
9. Do you watch anything on the Disney Channel but don't tell anyone?!
10. OK last question is something my English teacher did in class: I'll give you a word and you have to write a poem from it: "Marriage"

Please leave a comment when you post your questions! Thanks for playing!

Goodness...it's been a while!

Friday, October 15, 2010

I didn't forget about you and I hope you didn't forget about me! We're still unpacking...wow I didn't think we had that much stuff. How did we cram it all into an apartment? Thank you ladies for all the wonderful comments. It was a pain to pack or so I thought, because now I think unpacking is worse! With packing you just throw it in a box, with unpacking you have to find a spot for it all and then change that spot ten times! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Is it as windy where you are as it is here? We had 50 mile an hour winds today and tomorrow should be just as fun! We're hoping to get some pumpkin carving in while we unpack as well! What are your plans?

Moving...

Monday, October 4, 2010

We are so excited to be moving...but packing is not fun!! Will probably be offline for a few days while we get everything together. I hope my bloggers have a great week...and how wonderful that Autumn has shown! But for everyone in the Northeast...this rain is not wonderful! Hope all those getting married have a beautiful sunny day or had a sunny day this passed weekend! I know there was flooding in some areas. Hope all is OK now.

PS thinking of my MOH and her husband who just went back to Iraq from his 2 week leave at home.

Do you know the Princess?

Thursday, September 30, 2010

Many of us have seen and fallen in love with Princess Lasertron's amazing button and felt bouquets, I remember when I saw the one she made for her own wedding...stunning! You can contact her for your very own customized button, floral bouquet or you can buy a kit from her to make your very own!! I bet many of you already knew this...but did you know that she now has her own bridal gown line? How did I find all this out...from the Broke Ass Bride! They are unique, fun, flirty and offbeat...and I want one! My two favorite...

Is it really Autumn?

Thursday, September 23, 2010

Don't know about you, but here in Philly it doesn't feel like Autumn just yet. I'm ready to pull out the jeans, sweaters, and cozy up with my hubby on the pumpkin patch hayride! So why isn't the weather agreeing with me? What is it like where you are? Yesterday it was 90 degrees...90!! Today was a little better, but still in the 80s. If I could wear a birdcage veil...

Tuesday, September 21, 2010

I've seen some photos online where women dress in cute little vintage dresses and wear birdcage veils with them...o how I wish I could be that woman! When we were planning our wedding I never really thought about a birdcage veil and when I did see a bride wearing one I just wasn't sure it would look right on me. But how I love them now and wonder if I could have been a birdcage bride! Are you a birdcage bride, did you DIY your veil?

Doesn't this bride and her blue birdcage veil put a smile on your face!

Did you hear?

Monday, September 20, 2010

I dvr'd Friday's episode of Oprah and cried the entire time I watched it last night! First because she helped an amazing woman who lost her arms and legs and her husband lost his job. They were renting a small apartment with their two young daughters so Oprah sent them on a journey to search for a new HOME that she is going to buy for them...paid in full!  Then she brought out Vera Wang and together they gave 50 brides 50 Vera Wang dresses from her new David's Bridal "White" collection coming out in Feb. and then they gave those same brides $4,000 for a honeymoon at any Marriott, $250.00 from Kohls for a new honeymoon wardrobe, and airfare from United Airlines to fly any where in the US, the Virgin Islands, Canada, or Puerto Rico!!

Another wonderful surprise was when Oprah helped a single mother who paid for her three children to go to college and wouldn't be able to pay off the $78,000 loan debt till she was 90...well Oprah paid off that debt for her, paid for them to go on a dream trip to Italy, and paid her bills for a year so she can take off and have some time for herself!

Oh and Oprah loves Chicken Pie!! And not just any chicken pie....it has to be from Centerville Pie Company in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. These wonderful women wanted to give Oprah and Gayle some comfort food when they were in Mass. to attend Eunice Kennedy Shriver's funeral. Since then they have teamed up to work with Cape Abilities, a nonprofit organization that helps adults with disabilities find work. It all seemed like it was meant to be since Eunice founded the Special Olympics and now these ladies were helping and giving some of their profits to Cape Abilities. So Oprah wanted to reward them...so she told them that Harry & David were going to sell their pies in their catalog, which reaches millions of people!

Who doesn't love OPRAH!!

And I love this wedding from WeddingChicks! The bride and groom are so adorable and their colors...TEAL AND YELLOW...those were our colors!!

How stinking adorable is that first photo with the couple kissing holding the & sign!!! If you can find an & sign I advise you to steal this idea!!  The yellow and green bouquets look so lovely with the bright teal color of the bridesmaid dresses; I love that the bride's bouquet has a white flower in it to stand out from theirs. Her heels are so beautiful, love those ruffles and the blue flower, I wonder if she clipped that on herself? Photographer Sweet Monday captured their love and their wedding so well!

I just read that the groom's father passed away while he was in high school and they wanted to make sure his memory was apart of their wedding day so his sister carried their father's bible and read from it during the ceremony. It's really great to hear wonderful stories like this because you can connect with the couple on another level, it's more than just looking at a beautiful bride and groom.

What memories will be apart of your wedding day?

We'll Always Remember

Saturday, September 11, 2010

Just about everyone can remember where they were on Sept. 11th 2001 and what was going through their minds when they saw the horrific event that has affected us all. I was in my first year of college and had just woken up to go to class when I turned on the TV to see what the weather was going to be for that day. Little did I know that the weather wasn't going to matter at all. When I saw what was going on I wasn't sure what I was watching. I thought maybe I had turned on the wrong channel and was watching a movie. But then I realized it was the news...and it was live. I was in shock and right away I called my parents. My younger sister was in school at the time and I was afraid that something might happen to Philly next because the news said there was a plane in that area. I couldn't get in touch with anyone and I wasn't sure what to do because I was a freshman who just started at Millersville University, so I went to class.

As I walked down the street to class I saw students stopping in the middle of the sidewalk to pray, cry, and hug each other. In the back of my mind I still worried about home, my sisters, parents, and family, but continued to walk to class. A few of my classes were canceled and in other classes we talked about what was going on or watched the news. I later got in contact with my parents and everyone was safe and sound but in shock like the rest of us. I didn't understand why someone would do this and I cried as I saw the people jumping from the buildings. The country will never forget...the world will never forget this day. Every time I see 9:11 on the clock I remember, every time I see New York City I remember, every time I hear about those who fought on Flight 93 I remember, every time I think about my freshman year I remember, every time I hear something new about that day I remember. We'll Always Remember.

Where were you on 9.11.01?

Reasons to LOVE being a Tattooed Bride...

Friday, September 3, 2010

So many brides are worried about what their tattoos will look like on their big day, and I was one of those brides. I worried how my dress might look with the tattoos and even what some guests would think about me having tattoos. But when I saw how beautiful I looked in my dress I wanted to embrace who I was and show off my creative side as well as my beauty! I hope other tattooed brides will do the same and flaunt who you really are and don't hide anything on one of the most important days...be true to you inside and out.

Back from Vacation!

Monday, August 30, 2010

We just got back from a mini vacation where we stayed at our favorite B&B that I showed you and this time it was just as wonderful if not better than the first stay! On our first stay the weather was a little messy for a walk around the farm that the B&B sits on so this time the sun was out to play and so were we! Here are some of our favorite photos from this weekend! Again, if you are looking for a mini vacation this is a lovely place to stay and visit. We also ate dinner at the neatest looking country steak house that had the coolest antiques I've seen and the best homemade crab cakes! So if you're ever in Berryville, Va stay at Smithfield farm and eat at John's Family Restaurant!
