I dvr'd Friday's episode of Oprah and cried the entire time I watched it last night! First because she helped an amazing woman who lost her arms and legs and her husband lost his job. They were renting a small apartment with their two young daughters so Oprah sent them on a journey to search for a new HOME that she is going to buy for them...paid in full! Then she brought out Vera Wang and together they gave 50 brides 50 Vera Wang dresses from her new David's Bridal "White" collection coming out in Feb. and then they gave those same brides $4,000 for a honeymoon at any Marriott, $250.00 from Kohls for a new honeymoon wardrobe, and airfare from United Airlines to fly any where in the US, the Virgin Islands, Canada, or Puerto Rico!!
Another wonderful surprise was when Oprah helped a single mother who paid for her three children to go to college and wouldn't be able to pay off the $78,000 loan debt till she was 90...well Oprah paid off that debt for her, paid for them to go on a dream trip to Italy, and paid her bills for a year so she can take off and have some time for herself!
Oh and Oprah loves Chicken Pie!! And not just any chicken pie....it has to be from Centerville Pie Company in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. These wonderful women wanted to give Oprah and Gayle some comfort food when they were in Mass. to attend Eunice Kennedy Shriver's funeral. Since then they have teamed up to work with Cape Abilities, a nonprofit organization that helps adults with disabilities find work. It all seemed like it was meant to be since Eunice founded the Special Olympics and now these ladies were helping and giving some of their profits to Cape Abilities. So Oprah wanted to reward them...so she told them that Harry & David were going to sell their pies in their catalog, which reaches millions of people!
Who doesn't love OPRAH!!

I saw the same episode on Friday....Oprah rocks!!
ReplyDeleteI missed the episode, but I love Oprah for being so generous and caring! It's too bad more celebrities don't use their money and power for good instead of wasting it all on booze and partying.
ReplyDeleteWow - go Oprah! Good for her; what a role model :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I saw this episode too, and I teared up several times! She is such a generous person.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! Oprah is amazing! But despite how famous and powerful she is in America, the Japanese have never heard of her! You can have it all and be completely obscure to the rest of the world...
