She Will Move Mountains...

Friday, March 28, 2014

I have recently discovered the wonderful world of free printables that many DIY bloggers create, whether they are for holidays, birthdays, or just have words of inspiration on them. So, I thought I would use the photo editor site Pic Monkey to create my own...

As you can see I made two versions, one with white mountain tops and one without! I was searching for inspiring quotes and stumbled upon this one and now have fallen in love with it. Did you know that it may have originated with Napoleon who said, "Let China sleep, for when she wakes she will shake the world"? So somewhere in between what he said and now it has been translated to "Let her sleep, for when she wakes she will move mountains".

The mountains I am hoping to move this weekend are the ones that need to be sold for our Summer garage sale! We just have too much stuff in this house; stuff from when the girls were little, from my college days, and just junk lying around that is collecting dust that no one cares about any more. So, this weekend I am hoping to get a start on what to donate, what to put in the garage sale, and what should just be tossed.

What mountains are you moving this weekend, next week, this year? For this year, I am planning on moving my blog over to WordPress and getting an entire new design with fun social media buttons. I really want to make something out of my blog instead of just letting it sit. I love what I do and I'm learning so much, but I'm more of a behind the scenes person on other blogs and only share round up lists on AWS. I want people to see me and to learn more about who I am and what goes on in "The World Around Her". So stick around, I plan on moving big mountains this year!

Thanks for stopping by, have a great weekend!

xoxo

Jars of Love!

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

Check out my post @ Wedding.AllWomenStalk about the amazing Jacin from Lovely Little Details and her generous operation Jars of Love!!

Jacin is such an amazing inspiration, as a woman, as a business person in the wedding industry, and as a human being! She grew up canning in New England and learned how from her beautiful grandmother Hazel, who sadly passed away last year but will forever live on through her family and Jars of Love. Every jar Jacin cans is made with love and made for a purpose of raising awareness and money for someone in need. Read the feature to find out more!

So What's New!

Monday, February 7, 2011

Not much going on today, just feels like a slow day at the office (home!) lol. Maybe that's because the Pittsburgh Steelers put on a sad performance at the Super Bowl yesterday. Not a happy night at this household!

But the night before, Saturday, was a really great night catching up with friends and hanging out with work friends at my husband's work party...same place I used to work! They call it their "holiday" party because the actual holiday season is very busy and too busy to hold a party so now each year they hold it close to Valentine's Day. The tables were decorated with Valentine's Day vases with little hearts and each couple got a company mug filled with candy! So we pretty much considered this our Valentine's Day gift to each other, my husband bought me a new dress for the party and we stayed the night in a beautiful room at the hotel where the party was hosted. It felt really nice to have the night to ourselves and get out on the town without the kids (we love you!). We even went to the bar for a little after party with our friends!

So what are you doing for Valentine's Day? Would you ever consider a Valentine's Day Wedding? I think it would be a great time to look for DIY decorations and projects during this holiday, especially if your wedding colors are red or pink. I love these favors from TheFavourShoppe for a Sweet Vday Wedding!

Black and Yellow!!!

Friday, February 4, 2011

The Super Bowl is this Sunday and here to celebrate our favorite football colors of the Pittsburgh Steelers I have created a few wedding inspiration boards of a black and yellow palette. The Steelers colors are black and gold, but the gold is more of a yellow, besides I love the way yellow pops against black, don't you! Here is my favorite board, City Chic.....created @ StyleMePretty

Blog Q & A!

Wednesday, January 12, 2011

The lovely Christina from At Least We Have Each Other...GO STEELERS...tagged me in a fun little blog Q&A. PS...We're both big Pittsburgh Steelers fans...and they play this Saturday!

1. If you could move anywhere in the world, where would you go? I really can't pick between too many places because I haven't been around the world yet, hope to some day! I guess I just want to be with my husband and some place where our kids wouldn't mind traveling to when they visit us! Also some place warm, friendly, with a nice neighborhood, beautiful beaches...hmm our Naples, Florida honeymoon was something like this!

2. What is one of your earliest memories? I don't know if it's from a memory or from seeing pictures of myself when I was younger. But I would have to say the earliest my memory takes me is about elementary school age. I see photos from before that I don't really remember, like the first house I lived in that we moved from when I was three. I remember how I felt when my younger sister was born, and I remember a crush I had when I was in grade school. When we were at the graduation dance for 5th grade all our classmates kept pushing us together so we would dance! LOL!

3. What's your favorite recipe? My husband found a marinade recipe online that we all love and now we call it "Mike's famous Chicken"! It includes onions, ketchup, soy sauce, and a few other things! We love it!

4. Warm weather or cold weather? WARM!!! FOREVER WARM!

5. What's your weirdest habit? Hmm.... Weirdest? WOW I guess I would have to ask other people because I may not think any of my habits are weird! I touch my face too much is probably weird! My nose, around my mouth, my cheeks, eyebrows. So I guess that's it! LOL.

6. How much time do you spend online in a day? Well I work online from home so I guess I would have to say at least 8 hours?
7. How many states have you visited? Let's see, PA, NJ, NY, CT, MA, NH, DE, MD, VA, WVA, FL, NV, and CA. 13 states! I like this question!

8. If you won $20,000 cash -- how would you spend it? hmm...my stepdaughter is turning 16, would buy her a car, take the family down to Disney, and save any left over!

9. How do you style your hair on a daily basis? I usually put some mousse in it and then blow dry...if I don't feel like it I just through it up all crazy like when still wet! LOL!

10. Who do you look up to? Great question but I'd like to say more as in Who inspires me like...my husband,  teachers I've had, my husband's aunt, my step children, and other bloggers.

So now it's my turn to make post some questions and tag some ladies!

1. Is there anything you wanted growing up from Santa that you never got?
2. Where is the best place you've ever vacationed?
3. Where is your favorite place to go when you need some time to yourself?
4. What is the current book your reading, and your favorite book?
5. What is the most romantic thing you're boyfriend/husband/lover has ever done for you?
6. Do you believe in aliens from other planets and what do you think they look like?
7. What did you hope to be, what was your dream job when you were younger?
8. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
9. What is your favorite Disney movie?
10. What is the best dessert you've ever eaten?

So if there are any ladies who would love to answer these take a stab at it...here are some I'd like to see their answers to...
