Easter Mason Jar DIY

Yes, I finally put my empty mason jars to good use this weekend! I had so much fun putting this DIY project together for my step-kids and was so thrilled that they loved them as much as I did. Now that they are teens and in those college age years, I wanted to do something that wasn't too childish for them. I give you my Easter Mason Jar DIY...

We didn't dye eggs this year, but I still wanted to make Easter a special day for everyone (although my husband was sick and I was getting over a cold), plus who doesn't like to feel special right?!

The tags are from I Heart Nap Time, I printed them on stock paper, cut them out, punched a hole, and tied them around the mason jars with Baker's Twine from Stampin' Up!, my best friend Becky is a consultant for them...I love their stuff.

The Easter Jar idea came from a tweet I saw about Nest Full of New's DIY, but I must have been so mesmerized by the chocolate bunny that I didn't notice the fabric and twine idea until I saw it on The 36th Avenue, don't you just love the fabric she used! 

I may have put this mason jar DIY idea together for Easter, but it works for Mother's Day, birthdays, and even Christmas. Stop by your local thrift or antique store, where I found the larger jars, print out tags from I Heart Nap Time or The 36th Avenue, place a gift inside, and you are ready to go! Anniversary & Easter...

Celebrating your Anniversary on a holiday can be pretty busy and a little crazy, this is especially true when you have three step children. We wanted to make sure we had a moment to ourselves to celebrate our anniversary, so the night before Easter we went out to dinner and had the perfect night together! Everything just came together so nicely. We dressed up, took some pictures, went to eat at Toscana 52 where we had the perfect meal, drinks, and the sweetest waitress, then we went for a walk through New Hope, and after came home to watch Eat, Pray, Love. The movie was really wonderful and done with respect to the book and Elizabeth Gilbert's life, Julia Roberts did a beautiful job, love her!

So on Easter, our actual anniversary, we had Easter baskets for the kids, went for a bike ride, had a little egg hunt (filled with money!), ate a very tasty ham dinner, and cut into our wedding cake for good luck! I was very thankful for our time together the night before and wasn't worried about running around and doing so many things on our anniversary because this is our life, our family, and this is why I'm so loved and blessed.

PS...should have said how the cake tasted! It actually wasn't too bad a year later! It wasn't the same as our wedding day, but it was better than expected! There was still half of it left so we just tossed it, it was weird departing with it!

Easter Fun!

The stickers made these eggs look so funny! It's as if they were coming to life!! Just kidding! We always love giving them other things than just the candy for Easter. I found those cute little bunnies at the $1 store...actually I bought everything for Easter at the dollar store! Dollar Tree is a great store...sometimes other dollar stores have crappy things...but this one is pretty great. We got them coloring books, socks, brain teaser puzzles, etc. We also had a mini egg hunt in the house with them on Easter morning...the youngest little bunny found $4.00 in change! What a great Easter we had...ooo did I mention we watched "Bedtime Stories"? Great family movie if you're looking for one to rent! And it's Disney!

Here is my first attempt at making scrapbook cards...I really like how they turned out and I know they could be a little bit better...and maybe look a little more put together...but it was just something I threw together to say Happy Easter to those I love!
